Lenco L-455BK Turntable Makes a Stylish Statement

Visible belt drive, Ortofon 2M RED, and brushed aluminium finish headline the latest from Lenco’s Expertise line.

Among the eye-catching displays at the recent High End Munich 2025 was the Lenco L-455BK, a new belt-drive turntable from the brand’s ‘Expertise’ series that confidently blends heritage hi-fi engineering with modern aesthetics. We had the chance to get hands-on with the unit during the show, and it impressed us with its build quality and thoughtful feature set.

Where most turntables hide their mechanics, the L-455BK highlights them. The externally visible belt drive, framed by a brushed aluminium chassis, makes a bold visual statement while delivering smooth, low-resonance performance. Sitting atop the 300mm die-cast metal platter is the highly regarded Ortofon 2M RED Moving Magnet cartridge, factory-fitted and mounted to a sleek tonearm with adjustable counterweight and anti-skating controls.

Playback precision is ensured through automatic speed control and correction, constantly monitoring platter rotation to maintain pitch accuracy at 33 and 45 RPM. Meanwhile, a mechanical tonearm lift and start/stop operation contribute to the turntable’s intuitive, user-friendly feel.

The L-455BK is also a practical choice for modern listening environments. It offers a built-in switchable phono preamp (with RIAA EQ) and USB output for vinyl-to-digital conversion via PC or Mac. This makes integrating with powered speakers easy or digitising your collection without additional components.

Lenco’s roots stretch back to 1946, and the Swiss-founded brand continues to stand out by offering audiophile-friendly products at accessible prices. The Expertise line—which includes the L-455BK—reflects this ethos with a focus on refined materials, contemporary styling, and sonic integrity.

Now available, the Lenco L-455BK is priced at £449 / €499 with pricing for other regions being confirmed.
