Hisense Launches M2 Pro 4K Laser Mini Projector

Competition is heating up in the portable projector space, and Hisense is throwing its hat in the ring with the launch of the M2 Pro.
This compact, cube-like laser projector packs serious home theatre credentials into a portable form factor.

Following a wave of recent releases, including Epson’s EpiqVision Mini EF21 and BenQ’s GP520, the M2 Pro arrives as Hisense’s smallest and lightest 4K laser projector to date. But while other brands have made compromises in the pursuit of portability, Hisense appears to have squeezed in just about everything—true 4K resolution, triple-laser colour, optical zoom, Dolby Vision, and even voice control.
Inside, the M2 Pro uses a DLP projection engine powered by Texas Instruments’ XPR technology and what Hisense calls “AI 4K Clarity.” This suite of smart imaging enhancements includes real-time upscaling, noise reduction, and HDR tone-mapping. It’s capable of projecting up to a 200-inch image and, thanks to its Pure Triple Laser light source (with discrete red, green and blue lasers), it covers an impressive 110% of the BT.2020 colour space—putting it in the same conversation as fixed-installation home cinema systems.

Brightness tops out at a claimed 1,300 lumens—not groundbreaking compared to full-size home theatre projectors, but certainly decent for something you can carry under one arm. While it won’t cut through daylight like a 3,000-lumen cinema unit, it’s more than serviceable in dimly lit rooms and a noticeable step up from many other portable options.
Setting up the M2 Pro is designed to be quick and frustration-free. Autofocus and automatic keystone correction are onboard, along with wall colour adaptation that compensates for coloured surfaces to maintain natural image tone, even if you’re projecting onto beige or grey. Unusually for a compact projector, the M2 Pro also features optical zoom with a 1.0–1.3 throw ratio, allowing image size adjustments without the usual drop in picture fidelity that comes with digital zoom.

Entertainment is built in via Hisense’s VIDAA Smart OS, which supports apps like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Apple TV—all accessible with a voice-enabled remote. There’s no need for an external streamer or dongle. The onboard audio system includes a 20-watt speaker setup with Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual: X processing, providing a surprisingly spacious and cinema-like soundstage for casual use, indoors or out.

With the M2 Pro, Hisense enters a more premium tier of the portable projection market. It sits comfortably alongside models like BenQ’s GP520—a 4K-capable LED projector offering 2,600 ANSI lumens and Google TV—and Epson’s lifestyle-focused EpiqVision EF21, which combines compact laser projection with Full HD resolution and streaming apps. While the BenQ delivers higher brightness and the Epson favours simplicity, Hisense strikes a compelling middle ground, offering true 4K laser visuals in a stylish, go-anywhere format that still feels at home in a serious AV setup.

The Hisense M2 Pro Laser Mini Projector is priced at £959 / €1,399 / US$1,299 / AU$ 2,499 and is available now through authorised retailers including the UK, Europe, the United States, and Australia.
