Grado Prestige X Series Headphones Released

Grado Prestige X Series of affordable open-back headphones announced
Grado's Prestige X Series sees the Brooklyn-based outfit replace each of its much-loved open-backed headphone models building on the successful e Series launched in 2014, which still remain a favourite with the SR60e making our Best Five Affordable Headphones list.

The new Prestige X range, which remains the entry-level to Grado's headphones, retains the instantly recognisable aesthetics and comprises the SR60x, SR80x, SR125x, SR225x and SR325x.

The updates include the fourth-generation driver, which utilises both a new magnetic circuit (for improved efficiency) and a newly designed voice coil and diaphragm (to further reduce distortion). The result, according to Grado, is a headphone that's easier to drive and so friendlier to use with a variety of portable devices.

The company has also updated and improved the cable design that uses super annealed copper wire. This sees the SR125x, SR225x and SR325x featuring an eight-conductor lead, with a four-conductor variant for the SR60x and SR80x.

The headbands across the series have also been redesigned to enhance comfort. All but the SR325x, which keeps its leather wrapping, are now covered in an animal-friendly "synthetic protein material".

The SR60x (£109.95), SR80x (£129.95), SR125x (£189.95), SR225x (£249.95) and SR325x (£329.95) are available now.
