Dynaudio's Focus range could be the perfect fit for someone wanting studio-grade sound but with the convenience of modern streaming smarts built-in.

Dynaudio Focus

Replacing the brand's Focus XD range, launched in 2014, the new Focus trio saw its debut at High End Munich 2022.

The new line is powered by amplifiers used in Dynaudio's professional studio monitors alongside the company's Cerotar tweeter. The Focus 10 bookshelf model partners the 28mm soft dome tweeter with a 14cm woofer in its two-way sealed box design. A 280-watt amp powers the woofer, with 110 watts going to the tweeter.

Next up the ladder is the Focus 30 two-and-a-half-way floorstander. This model adds a 14cm mid-bass driver to the mix, whereas the Focus 50 three-way floorstander puts a pair of 18cm woofers to work with its 14cm midrange driver and a 28mm soft dome tweeter.

Dynaudio Focus Streaming Hardware Munich 2022

Boasting impressive connectivity, the new Dynaudio Focus series employs a streaming platform using similar hardware to a high-end British brand's streamers and offers support for TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect, Qplay, AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast. In addition to the speakers being Roon Ready, you also get Bluetooth and UPnP support.

For tethered connections, Dynaudio's Focus provides coaxial and digital inputs and a set of analogue audio inputs. There's even a subwoofer output with trigger. Unfortunately, there is no HDMI port, but as the speakers are WiSA certified, compatible TVs will be able to hook up to them for wireless sound.

Wirelessly, the Focus can natively play up to 24-bit/96kHz hi-res tracks. However, for full-fat 24-bit/192kHz playback, they'll need their wired connections attached.

The fascia-mounted new simplified Dynaudio logo indicates the speaker's current function with the Focus range even being able to sense when you're using the grilles and alter their EQ settings to compensate. On that note, as the Focus speakers are Dirac Live ready, you can use Dirac's advanced room calibration to fine-tune the speakers for your room.

The Focus system can be controlled via the Dynaudio app or the bundled Bluetooth remote.

The new Dynaudio Focus range is available in four finishes: white high gloss, black high gloss, walnut wood and blonde wood, with the Focus 10 priced at £4,399/ €5,000, the Focus 30 costing £6,499/ €7,500, and the Focus 50 will sell at £8,699/ €10,000 RRP.
