The company states that these new models build on its legacy of premium sound engineering, offering both passive and active options for discerning listeners.

Dynaudio highlights that unique edition versions of its speakers have historically been well-received, and the Contour 20 Black Edition continues this tradition. The company says this new model is designed to bridge the gap between the Contour 20i and the Confidence 20, upgrading critical components for a performance more akin to the higher-end Confidence series.

According to Dynaudio, the Contour 20 Black Edition incorporates a tweeter upgrade from the Esotar 2i to the Esotar 3, which the company claims enhances high-frequency detail, air, and space. The mid-bass driver has also been upgraded, now featuring a neodymium magnet and a longer voice coil winding, which Dynaudio states improve precision, attack, and imaging. The woofer is paired with a dual-flare port design, optimising airflow for better bass performance.

Aesthetically, the Black Edition embraces an all-black theme, with a black woofer basket, tweeter front plate, speaker cable terminal plate, anodised front baffle, and a high-gloss black cabinet. Dynaudio says these refinements contribute to an elevated design aesthetic and a reinforced, vibration-resistant structure.

Internally, Dynaudio has upgraded the crossover network, incorporating Mundorf caps and resistors, a larger air coil, and Van den Hul cables. The company states this results in a more refined and natural sonic presentation. The speaker employs a second-order filter for both drivers, with a crossover point of 3.6kHz.

Alongside the Contour 20 Black Edition, Dynaudio has also introduced the Confidence 20A, an active version of its flagship Confidence 20. The company describes the Confidence 20A as a natural evolution of its active speaker lineup, incorporating elements from its Focus XD, XEO, and Professional Series into a premium, high-performance model.

Dynaudio states that the Confidence 20A is essentially a Confidence 20 with built-in amplification, using technology derived from the company’s professional audio division. The internal amplifier, developed in collaboration with Pascal, provides 400 watts for the woofer and 150 watts for the tweeter, ensuring dynamic range and effortless power delivery.

The company specifies that the Confidence 20A features a frequency response of 34Hz to 25kHz (+/-3dB), allowing it to reproduce deep bass and extended highs with precision. Dynaudio highlights the inclusion of an AES3 (XLR) digital input and output and an XLR analog input, offering flexibility in system integration. Users can adjust settings via digital AES3 left/right controls, sample-rate conversion, sound balance, analog sensitivity, and EQ adjustments tailored for free-standing, wall, or corner placement.

Like the Contour 20 Black Edition, the Confidence 20A features the Esotar 3 tweeter and a woofer with a neodymium magnet and dual-flared port design. The cabinet incorporates a black front baffle with matching driver rings, reinforcing the speaker’s sleek, premium look.

With these latest additions, Dynaudio continues to expand its high-performance speaker lineup, offering both passive and active options for audiophiles who demand precision, power, and refined musicality. Whether users prefer the passive craftsmanship of the Contour 20 Black Edition or the active convenience and performance of the Confidence 20A, the company claims these new models deliver a level of detail and immersion worthy of their premium status.

The Contour 20 Black Edition is available now and priced at US$8,000 per pair. Optional stands for the speakers are also available for US$599 per pair. The Dynaudio Confidence 20A is available now and priced at US$24,000 per pair. Pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed in other regions.
