Devialet Launches Phantom Ultimate Wireless Speaker with Next-Gen Tech

Devialet has launched the Phantom Ultimate, a new generation of its iconic wireless speaker that promises deeper bass, cleaner highs, and expanded streaming options.

When Devialet launched the original Phantom in 2015, it was heralded as a disruptive force in high-fidelity audio. Backed by three years of R&D and 88 patents, it carved a reputation for extraordinary bass extension and striking design. Now, a decade later, the French brand has unveiled the Phantom Ultimate, which is described as the heir to that icon.

Created by Devialet’s engineers and designers in Paris, Phantom Ultimate builds on the company’s signature acoustic profile while introducing new processing power, materials, and streaming capabilities.

Jacques Demont, CEO of Devialet, told StereoNET the launch represents much more than a facelift:
With Devialet Phantom Ultimate, we reaffirm our status as a pioneer in the audio industry. This new era invites listeners to experience sound with unprecedented intensity, clarity, and depth. Behind this achievement lies engineering excellence—a testament to our savoir-faire and expertise.

The technical changes are significant. Devialet has introduced a new NXP i.MX 8M Nano system-on-chip to handle advanced audio processing with greater energy efficiency. Its proprietary Analog Digital Hybrid (ADH®) amplification, now in its latest generation, combines Class A's linearity with Class D's efficiency, extending usable bandwidth up to 35 kHz (±6 dB) on the flagship model. Speaker Active Matching (SAM®) remains at the core, adapting phase and amplitude in real time for accuracy while safeguarding drivers.

Low-end extension remains central to Devialet’s pitch, with Heart Bass Implosion (HBI®) technology allowing output down to 14 Hz. Adaptive Volume Level (AVL™), first seen in the Dione soundbar, has also been added, automatically adjusting playback for consistent cinematic dynamics.

Devialet has not ignored design. Phantom Ultimate retains the familiar sculpted silhouette but refines it with cleaner lines, reworked tweeter grilles, and new finishes. Deep Forest combines dark tones with black chrome detailing that hints green under light, while Light Pearl references bisque ceramics with an ultra-matte off-white treatment. The Opéra de Paris edition continues the brand’s cultural partnership, hand-gilded leaf by leaf with 22-carat gold by artisans at Ateliers Gohard.

On the usability front, Devialet OS (DOS3) underpins the new models, bringing an expanded streaming suite—AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready, and UPnP—along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. The revamped Devialet app introduces tailored modes for music, podcasts, and cinema, plus a six-band EQ, bass reducer, and loudness compensation.

Two models debut at launch. The Phantom Ultimate 108 dB offers 1,100 W of amplification and a 14 Hz–35 kHz (±6 dB) response, supported by four new patents and 32-bit/96 kHz processing. The more compact Phantom Ultimate 98 dB delivers 400 W and 18 Hz–25 kHz (±6 dB) bandwidth, with a co-spherical driver to broaden soundstage. Both can operate solo, in stereo, or as part of a multi-room system.

The Devialet Phantom Ultimate range is available via the Devailet and authorised retailers. Pricing begins at £1,400 | A $3,090 | €1,500 for the Phantom Ultimate 98 dB (Deep Forest and Light Pearl) and rises to £1,650 | A $3,690 | €1,800 for the Opéra de Paris edition. The 108 dB model is listed at £2,800 | A $6,590 | €3,200 in standard finishes or £3,300 | A $7,890 | €3,800 in Opéra de Paris livery.
