Denon Leverages Nura Technology for Personalised Listening Experience

While Denon certainly needs no introduction, more recently established Nura disrupted the market only a few shorts years ago with its personalised sound technology.
The company's first product, Nuraphone, resulted from the collective minds of Dr Dragan Petrovic and Dr Luke Campbell coming together in leafy Brunswick, Melbourne, in early 2016. Their purpose was to create a brand that would forever change how we think about personal music listening, and that's exactly what they did.
Recent reports overseas last week suggest that Denon and/or its parent, Sound United (Masimo Consumer), recently acquired the Nura brand and company. However, no official press release or statement has been provided to local media outlets confirming this.
Instead, Masimo has released a statement this week promoting a new collaboration with Denon to leverage Nura's technology into the brand's product pipeline "to deliver enhanced listening experiences for consumers".
Denon says that in adding Nura's award-winning otoacoustic emission measuring technology into the Denon family, consumers will be able to enjoy their favourite music "as if they are there in the front row thanks to custom sound implementation".
Trip Randall, Denon brand president, told StereoNET:
Nura's technology is a perfect complement to Denon's mission to expand human experiences through acoustic innovation. We've been committed to sound engineering for 113 years and counting, and we know that personalised audio is the future. This evolution with Nura is a natural fit, as we continue to innovate for the most discerning of audio consumers and push the boundaries of what's possible.
Denon, now part of the portfolio of brands owned by Medical company Masimo, will add Nura's technology into the Masimo Adaptive Acoustic Technology (AAT) platform. It hopes to address unique hearing complexities that vary from person to person.
According to the company, "Masimo AAT works by creating personalised listening profiles for each user based on the individual's unique hearing. By measuring the user's hearing sensitivity and tailoring sound accordingly, Masimo AAT ensures that no instrumental detail or sound subtlety is left unheard. This technology combined with Denon's audio engineering prowess will enable a more accurate and precise delivery of sound."
No details on specific products being announced have yet been released, but Denon says, "this moment promises to be a game-changer for personalised audio with users being able to experience the pinnacle of personalised listening." The first Denon product featuring Masimo AAT is expected to be introduced in mid-2023.
