Chord Electronics Mojo 2 DAC and headphone amplifier is a firm head-fi favourite, but the British brand has seen fit to bestow this pocket pleaser with a couple of upgrades. However, the lovely people at Chord haven't added them to the ticket price.

The Mojo 2's latest upgrades are the result of customer feedback. The changes see one of the two original 3.5mm headphone outputs replaced by a 4.4mm socket, which Chord says allows the Mojo 2 to be used with "a far greater range of high-performance headphones".

Additionally, the 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs will have independent volume memory, enabling you to set output levels for different headphones, which is pretty neat.

The second update is that the Mojo 2's USB-C input is now switchable and can be used for both data transfer and device charging. The latest Mojo 2 has a small 'flash' symbol above the input to denote its new charging ability.

All other features and functions of the Mojo 2 remain as is, which means the fab FPGA processor and Pulse Array DAC, lossless UHD DSP, eight hours of battery stamina, its comfortably portable dimensions, quality aluminium casing, and multi-coloured globe control buttons. Alongside the new changes, the Mojo 2 has coax and optical inputs, while the micro USB port stays, so it can connect to the equally impressive Poly 2 streamer module.

Chord Electronics assures us that all the things we love about the design and sound quality remain unchanged, which is excellent news, as we've loved the Mojo since it first landed, with the Mojo 2 claiming a StereoNET Applause Award.

The original Mojo 2 will remain available until stocks run out, so expect some deals.
The new Chord Mojo 2 (look out for the recharging 'flash' and bold 2) is now available for the unchanged price of £395 | US$650 | AU$799.
