Chord Electronics Suzi Pre and Suzi Amp Launch

Chord Electronics' new compact Suzi amplifiers, designed to be used individually or combined as a pre/power amplifier setup featuring ULTIMA technology, are now shipping globally.

The Suzi Pre and Suzi Amp were first showcased in prototype form at High End Munich 2024. The Suzi Pre is an analogue preamp equipped with a phono stage and headphone output, while the Suzi Amp is a standalone stereo power amplifier. They can be combined to form a compact pre/power amplifier system.

The 30-watt Suzi Amp stereo power amplifier is designed to seamlessly integrate with Chord Electronics' Hugo 2 DAC, providing a new DAC/amplifier option and an upgrade path for current Hugo 2 owners.

By pairing the 2go with the Suzi Amp and Hugo 2 (above), you get a streaming DAC/amp with up to 2 TB of MicroSD storage, along with Roon Endpoint and DLNA/UPnP connectivity.

Alternatively, an optional Multiplexer can be added (below). This device connects to the dual Micro USB inputs on the Hugo 2 and adds USB-B data inputs, along with USB-C data and charging capabilities. The Hugo 2 automatically detects the active input, allowing multiple simultaneous connections.

The Suzi Pre features a "premium" MM/MC phono stage with selectable gain and impedance, which can be adjusted via controls on the top panel or using a remote. It includes three RCA inputs, one RCA output, and a 12V DC output. A central polychromatic control sphere enables volume and input selection, while 3.5mm and 6.35mm headphone outputs are available for personal listening.

Meanwhile, the Suzi Amp incorporates Chord Electronics' innovative ULTIMA amplifier topology, providing 30 watts of stereo power. Speakers connect through 4 mm banana outputs alongside RCA inputs and a removable solid aluminium cover block, allowing direct integration with the Suzi Pre or Hugo 2.

The front panel features polychromatic buttons that control power and the AV bypass feature. Its ventilated casework helps maintain cool operation. Additionally, the Suzi Amp offers a 12 V DC output for compatibility with Chord Electronics devices and a headphone pass-through (3.5mm and 6.35mm) that activates when connected to the Suzi Pre or Hugo 2.

Bundled with the Suzi Amp is a charging bridge accessory that connects it to the Hugo 2. This bridge provides charging power even when the Suzi Amp is turned off and offers a convenient 5V USB-C power output for other devices.

The Chord Electronics Suzi Pre costs £1,995/ 2,790/ US$2,995, while the Suzi Amp is priced at £3,400/ 4,490 /US$4,795. The optional USB Multiplexer is available for £300. Prices in other regions are awaiting confirmation.
