B.audio Alpha One Phono Stage Upgrade Also Offered to DAC Preamps

The French manufacturer has announced an add-in board that brings turntable input to select B.audio components, including its integrated and DAC-preamplifiers.
B.audio's new MM/MC module allows you to connect a turntable directly to the Alpha One integrated amplifier or to the company’s DAC-preamplifiers, eliminating the need for an additional box for a separate phono preamp.

According to B.audio, the design uses a low-noise input stage with matched transistors and two-stage passive RIAA equalisation.

The module supports both moving-magnet (MM) and moving-coil (MC) cartridges, with gain options selectable by type. MM offers +38dB or +50dB, while MC offers +58dB or +70dB. Moreover, settings can be changed on the fly via the unit’s remote control.
Loading options include 50pF, 100pF, 150pF, and 200pF for MM, and 33Ω, 50Ω, 100Ω, 150Ω, and 300Ω for MC.

The module is compatible with the B.dpr One, B.dpr, B.dpr One EX, B.dpr EX, and the Alpha One integrated amplifier.
Pricing is US$/€2,000 when optioned in new units, while upgrading existing units, including the required modifications, comes to US$/€2,500. For example, this brings the Alpha One to US$/€18,990 if the phono module was selected as an option at the point of purchase.

A full analogue system featuring an Alpha One with the phono stage was presented by B.audio at the most recent High End Munich show.
