Audio-Technica is busy celebrating its 60th birthday, and the latest release is the ATH-TWX9 true wireless earbuds, perfect for those concerned about what they shove in their ears.

The ATH-TWX9 are noise-cancelling earbuds that also boast an IPX4 splashproof rating and a total of 18.5 hours of battery life, including the charging case. However, what truly sets it apart is that the charging case can also give the buds 70 seconds of UV sterilisation each time they're returned to the case, eliminating bacteria and viruses from the surface. They also support Qi charging.

The new self-cleaning buds connect via Bluetooth 5.2 and are certified for Sony's 360 Reality Audio, as well as having a low latency mode for when you're playing games or watching movies. You also get multipoint support for two simultaneous Bluetooth connections, and they'll play nicely with Alexa and Google Assistant.

Naturally, Audio-Technica states that the ATH-TWX9's 5.8mm drivers will provide an impressively robust and immersive soundstage. Additionally, we are told to expect impressive call quality, with the earphones having a sidetone function allowing you to hear your voice during calls for more natural-sounding conversations.

The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9 earbuds are available now in Japanese Black with dark bronze accents and come bundled with twelve different earbud sizes and styles for £279.99/ €319.
