Goldmund Melos Active Wireless Loudspeakers Introduced

Goldmund's new entry-level active standmount loudspeakers promise the Swiss brand's high-fidelity wireless skills wrapped in its signature understated design.

Hot on the heels of Goldmund's Melos Passive, and as promised, comes the Melos Active Wireless loudspeakers, which, says the Swiss company, “represent a harmonious union of advanced technology and meticulous craftsmanship”.

Inspired by the Gaïa speaker design, Melos, a name taken in homage to the melodies of ancient Greece, features a sleek, monolithic aluminium cube housing measuring 35 x 25 x 36.2 cm (HxWxD) that weighs 24 kg per speaker.

Melos Active sports a 2-way vented design with a 1-inch soft dome tweeter and 7-inch woofer like its passive sibling, but each driver is paired with a 175 W built-in Telos amplifier. The rear panel features a digital S/PDIF input, a digital S/PDIF output, and a wireless aerial. Handcrafted by Goldmund's artisans in Geneva, the Melos Active wireless loudspeaker can be easily connected to a computer wirelessly.

Goldmund tells us that Melos Active offers exceptional bass extension and an immersive listening experience through advanced crossover technology, delivering a lifelike soundstage that envelops the listener in a symphony of unparalleled realism. The claimed frequency response is 40 Hz (-6 dB) > 25 kHz.

Melos Active is elegantly adorned in Goldmund's signature grey finish, complemented by matching grey grilles. However, if you like the Melos Passive's black grille aesthetic, those can be requested, possibly as a cost option.

Also onboard is Proteus LS digital filtering software alongside Goldmund's proprietary Leonardo time correction, which, according to Goldmund, digitally realigns the signal frequencies in time and suppresses phase distortion.

The Melos active speakers are available from Goldmund for £36,000/ €TBC, with bespoke stands following shortly.
