Major Update for Bluesound via Firmware

Bluesound, the fastest growing multi-zone audio platform from Canadian manufacturer, Lenbrook, has announced a firmware update by end January that will see a number of new key features and upgrades.

BluOS, the operating system that powers Bluesound products will receive firmware version 2.10 this month which will support a number of feature updates including Dolby Digital 2.1 downmix for the PULSE SOUNDBAR, integration of the KKBOX music streaming service, Roon integration, and a new enhanced setup process that Bluesound says will make adding Bluesound to your home network easier.

Bluesound's PULSE, the world's first hi-res soundbar will use advanced DSP technology to decode and downmix cinematic soundtracks into discrete left and right channels, allowing users to enjoy the immersive sound of their favorite TV shows and movies.

John Banks, Chief Brand Officer of Bluesound said:

We are excited to roll out this new upgrade for Bluesound and BluOS-enabled Players, as we continue to evolve our critically acclaimed wireless hi-res ecosystem and put music quality first. Our user base is continuing to grow, with hundreds of new Players being turned on daily across the world, and we look forward to continuing to improve the platform in the future with cutting-edge features and technology.

One area where users have reported to be struggling is with the initial setup of Bluesound players via the smartphone app. With the new update BluOS will now detect if new Players require Wi-Fi set up on a home network, and will walk users through a rich, intuitive, guided interface.

Bluesound Roon Integration

But the biggest news of all comes with Bluesound's compatibility with Roon. The update will see Bluesound become the world’s first wireless high-res multi-room music system to act as a RoonReady streaming endpoints. Great news for existing Bluesound owners and Roon subscribers.

Roon subscribers using Bluesound will be able to connect their Players to Roon’s intuitive, information-rich music library management software and stream high-resolution music to one or many Bluesound Players simultaneously.

Roon's native Tidal integration and recent inclusion of Master resolution material, combined with Bluesound's MQA compatibility means sure success for this growing brand. Enthusiasts seeking the ultimate in convenience for music throughout their home, yet demanding superior sound quality and rich, engaging sound have found their solution with Bluesound.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
