Triangle Magellan 40th Anniversary Speakers Announced
Triangle's Magellan 40th anniversary limited edition four-model range sports new acoustic tech, Audioquest cabling and exceptional finishes.
Triangle is celebrating its 40th anniversary and has created the Magellan limited edition range of speakers with added flair, uprated components and plenty of Oh là là!
The renowned French high-quality speaker maker's Magellan 40th Anniversary speaker range comprises the Quatuor 40th and Cello 40th floorstanders, the Duetto 40th bookshelf speakers and the Voce 40th centre speaker.
Each speaker is offered in a choice of three luxuriously exclusive finishes, namely, Shadow Zebrano (above), Golden Oak and Space Black.
However, Triangle hasn't simply put these speakers in a party frock. As good as they look, this new range also has plenty of new things going on beneath their chic, curved cabinets made of successive layers of 3mm high-density fiberboard.
Firstly, Triangle's TZ2900 tweeter is fitted and boasts a new magnesium alloy dome. Along with the company's patented horn tweeter tech, the result is better detailed upper harmonics and a smoother transition to the midrange drivers, according to the French firm.
Next is the new LHS 2 heatsink consisting of a heat transmission ring that covers the back of the motor. This is said to enable “optimal heat transmission” to the external structure resulting in improved power handling of the transducer.
The crossovers are assembled in-house using capacitors developed in collaboration with fellow French company SCR Audio. Triangle says it only uses large section air core coils and that bass and midrange/treble boards are physically separated.
The four pure copper terminals on the Triangle Magellan 40th Anniversary range are fitted to a substantial block of die-cast aluminium. The terminals are designed to accommodate bare cable, banana plugs or forks. With independent crossover circuits, bi-amplification promises to enhance things.
Finally, linking everything together, Triangle has collaborated with Audioquest for the internal wiring, which we're told consists of a carefully balanced blend of long-grain copper (LGC) and high-purity perfect surface copper (PSC).
The Triangle Magellan 40th Anniversary range of speakers is available now, with the flagship Quatuor 40th priced at €14,000 per pair. The Cello 40th are €11,000 per pair, and Duetto 40th €5,500 per pair. The Voce 40th centre-channel model costs €3,000 each. Special stands have also been created for the Duetto (Support S08) and Voce (Support S08C) that cost €1,000 and €750, respectively.
