Tivoli Tempts with Tabletop Trio
Tivoli unveils three portable speakers covering Wi-Fi streaming, DAB+ Radio and Bluetooth streaming in the SongBook, SongBook MAX and Model 2 Digital.
Tivoli's triumvirate of new portable products combine retro-chic styling with today's listening choices with the Model 2 Digital offering Wi-Fi access to streaming services, the SongBook MAX DAB+/FM radio and, finally, Bluetooth streaming in SongBook's mid-century modern-esque unit.
TIVOLI MODEL DIGITAL
The Model 2 Digital is a classy-looking compact 20-watt Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker that, judging by the photos, is happy to have its slender form landscape or portrait. While looking like an old radio, it hands you access to various streaming platforms, including Google Chromecast and AirPlay 2, as well as services such as Spotify Connect, Apple Music, Google Play, Tidal Connect and TuneIn, presented through a full-range speaker and a single tweeter.
Streaming from your portable device is via Bluetooth 5.2, and thanks to Google Home or Apple Home, you can connect the Model 2 to other supported speakers, listen to music in multiple rooms or play peer-to-peer through Bluetooth 5.2. Alternatively, you can connect additional wired audio devices to the unit via a 3.5mm auxiliary input.
SONGBOOK & SONGBOOK MAX
The SongBook MAX's industrial aesthetic makes it look like it has been taken straight out of a radio operator's room on a 50s luxury liner. However, onboard this musical vessel, you'll find FM and DAB+ radio and Bluetooth 5.3 for those times you want to be the DJ.
The scan button can also store up to five of your favourite radio stations. Furthermore, the 6.35mm (¼-inch) aux input suggested for plugging in a turntable could even have the SongBook MAX double-up as a handy 50W practice combo for guitars or keyboards - that should really test out the 4-inch subwoofer, 4-inch midrange driver and 0.75-inch tweeter.
The carry handle hints at the SongBook MAX's portability, which is further backed up by a claimed 10 hours of playtime courtesy of the built-in battery.
Finally, the Tivoli SongBook shares the aesthetics with its sibling, although it loses the radio and triple-driver layout in favour of a 3.5-inch full-range driver partnered with a 3.5-inch woofer hooked up to a 40W amp. The SongBook also boasts a ten-hour battery, Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless streaming, as well as the same 6.5mm auxiliary input and analogue front-panel controls (toggle switches and sliders) alongside a sturdy-looking carry handle.
All three models, released in November, are available to preorder now, with the Model 2 Digital available in White/Silver or Walnut/Gold for £399, the SongBook and SongBook Max available in Green or Cream/Brown priced at £449 and £599, respectively.
