Strong Leap-S1 4K HDR Android TV Box UK Launch
Strong Leap-S1 is a £60 4K Ultra HD Android TV streaming box with Dolby Digital Plus, HDR10/10+ and Google Stadia onboard.
Strong's Android TV-based Leap-S1 4K Ultra HD box has landed in the UK featuring High Dynamic Range (HDR) as well as Google Assistant voice search, Chromecast built-in and the Google Stadia 4K HDR cloud gaming service. The latter, we're told, will arrive soon via a firmware update.
The 110 x 110 x 22mm device promises instant access to the Google Play Store's apps and streaming services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, BT Sport, My5, YouTube, YouTube Kids.
The diminutive box may be larger than the competing dongles but packs a quad-core, 1.8 kHz ARM Cortex-A53 processor, combined with Dual-Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5, 2GB of DDR4 RAM, plus 8GB of Flash storage.
Moreover, you get HDMI 2.1a support along with 4K HDR @ 60fps and support for Dolby audio, Chromecast, Bluetooth 4.2, a pair of side-mounted USBs (1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0), plus a Micro SD slot for further storage expansion.
Additionally, 3.5mm stereo analogue audio output lets you hook up external headphones/ amplifiers/ speakers, while a SPDIF (optical) connection delivers digital audio to external DACs, AV receivers etc.
