Solidsteel Black VL Series Hi-Fi Rack and Vinyl Storage

Italian hi-fi furniture maker Solidsteel releases the VL Series in black after its Munich show debut.

Solidsteel launched its VL Series in 2018 to serve the audiophile and vinylista with stylish component support and record storage all in a single solution. Initially available in a walnut finish with a choice of black or white poles, the Italian company announced a black-shelved option at High End Munich earlier this year.

We're told the VL Series has proved extremely popular, which makes sense as having your components and records on the same piece of furniture makes everything more convenient. Furthermore, as this is a Solidsteel product, you also benefit from technical-qualitative characteristics such as vibration control, stability, and Italian style.

Now there is a cool all-black version that will fit most environments and interior designs, whether classic or contemporary. After all, a well-made black suit or dress is perfect for any occasion.

The VL Series features the same frame as Solidsteel's S Series, which includes galvanised screws and powder-coated anodised aluminium pillars filled with a phono-absorbing sponge. Meanwhile, the 1280x410mm shelves are 22mm thick and finished with high-quality polymeric laminates. You also get adjustable spikes and S Series Pads to protect your flooring should you need them.

Each shelf can fit up to 120 LPs, with the standard distances between the shelves being 325 mm between the first and second shelf and 225 mm for the subsequent shelves. You can also add an extra component or record shelf via the VL Extra Kit 225 (inner shelf + 225 mm frame kit for audio components) and VL Extra Kit 325 (inner shelf + 325 mm frame kit for more records).

The Solidsteel VL Series in Black or Walnut is available now, starting at £700 for the two-shelved VL-2, with the VL-3 costing £970 and VL-4 priced at £1,260.
