Scotland Gets Its HI-AV Show Back
Following a 17-year break, the Edinburgh HI-AV Show has now returned.
The UK has ongoing and annual shows both in the Midlands and South, and with the ever-advancing audio/AV technology, Scotland is well overdue for having its own show once more and welcomes the Edinburgh HI-AV Show.
Last hosted at the Marriott Dalmahoy in 2007, its new location will be the Hilton Double Tree at Edinburgh Airport on November 9th and 10th.
We are told that the organiser, The Chester Group, set their 2024 Scottish show target at a minimum of 15 individual demonstration suites and have achieved almost 20, so it is pleased about that. Moreover, unusually and most rewardingly, many exhibitors are indigenous to Scotland, including many “difficult-to-find services and eclectic brands.”
Vinyl has an essential place in the show as it continues to be a significant attraction, and the Edinburgh HI-AV Show will host Edinburgh HI-AV Show offering stands of new and pre-loved records, expert record cleaning, turntables, styli, and more for enthusiastic vinylistas.
Elite Audio will be bringing the Figaro M2 Loudspeakers by Audio Solutions, XACT S1 EVO Music Server, the HiFi Rose RD160 DAC, Lindemann SOURCE II Universal Music System (Streamer/DAC) alongside the Lindemann MOVE + GROOVE Loudspeakers and Bass Speakers combo. You will also get to hear a pair of Electrocompaniet's Applause Award-winning AW300M’s (above) and the EC 4.8 MKII pre-amp.
AudioPhilia, meanwhile, will showcase exceptional products from McIntosh Labs, Sonus Faber, AudioQuest, Atoll Electronique, Hana Cartridges, Lucas Audio Labs Servers, ART Loudspeakers, and more.
Following its unveiling at the UK Audio Show last month, which attracted many positive comments, EJ Jordan Loudspeakers will exhibit their new Kingsway flagship loudspeaker. The Kingsway features the famous Jordan Eikona full-range drivers with a bipole radiation pattern. Multiple front- and rear-facing drive units add spaciousness and depth to the outstanding imaging that Jordan loudspeakers are renowned for. Finished in gorgeous Italian veneers, the Kingsway is built entirely in Cumbria using British and European components.
Meridian also had such a fantastic show at Staverton last month that it will exhibit the flagship DSP8000 XE loudspeaker at the Edinburgh HI-AV Show. Visitors will also get to experience Meridian’s streaming speaker, Ellipse, which delivers the company’s renowned sound quality in any room.
Chord Company's demonstrations will focus on cable ranges from Epic to Sarum T alongside the PowerHAUS P6, S6 and M6 mains blocks and their remarkable Shawline and Epic Rega DC upgrade cables. Accompanying audio equipment will include a Rega P6 turntable with ND5 MM cart, Elex Mk4 Amp, Saturn CD/DAC, ZENith and Fyne F700 speakers on stands.
Whole Note Distribution (UK), the Scottish arm of FEEL FLOWS Audio Collective, will be exhibiting alongside Kent-based partner VAL HiFi. In a UK first, the group will demonstrate NewOn Tech DAC models 08 and the range-topping 30SE, with the Pre and Power from the AMP lineup. In another UK-exclusive first showing, the Pachanko Labs Mini SE Server will be utilising ROON and streaming via the Diretta streaming protocol. Visitors will be encouraged to ‘spot the difference’ between the standard streaming unit and the Diretta-enabled one. Lastly, Boenicke Audio will be represented by the small but mighty W5 loudspeakers.
Show organiser Roy Bird told StereoNET:
After 27 years and hundreds of shows around the world, I'm now stepping back and letting my son take hold of the baton. It has been a great pleasure. Many thanks.
The show offers free parking via the adjacent Park & Ride or £5 on-site all day. Music is and will continue to be an essential pleasure for mankind, and Edinburgh's connections to music ensure a natural synergy.
