Q Acoustics Q B12 12-inch Subwoofer
Q Acoustics has announced the Q B12, the first in a new range of powerful subwoofers.
The Q B12 is designed to work with the award-winning Q Acoustics 3000i and Concept 5.1 speaker range and sports a matching finish.
Additionally, the Q B12 will be available in three home cinema packages or can be purchased individually for those wanting to boost the low-end audio on their existing set-up.
At the heart of the Q B12 sits a long-throw 12-inch driver that's powered by an ultra-low distortion 220W Texas Instruments TPA3255 Class D amplifier.
All of that makes the Q B12 the largest and most potent subwoofer from Q Acoustics yet. Equipped, with an active limiter and the amplifier's proprietary PurePath Ultra-HD technology together they ensure unwanted distortion is minimised across the board. We are promised a “taut but forceful sound.”
To help maintain performance levels a subtly engineered, custom die-cast aluminium heat sink on the rear panel supports and cools the ultra-low distortion power amplifier and power supply. Elsewhere, a 0º/180º phase switch allows you to optimise the integration with left and right speakers for a seamless and balanced fidelity.
Given the powerful nature of the driver unit, capable cabinet and driver bracing is crucial. To this end, Q Acoustics has fitted a 'dart brace' internal design inside the subwoofer's reinforced MDF cabinet. Not only does this provide superior mechanical stability to the driver, but the increased rigidity reduces resonance and vibrations, giving an improved and accurate bass response.
Keep it Clean
Adjustable spiked feet provide additional support when the Q B12 is placed on carpeted floors, with optional rubber caps for wooden and other hard surfaces also provided.
The rear terminal panel has been cleverly designed to keep interior spaces free of unsightly wires. Recessed and hidden, it allows all plugs to be concealed, and channel cables passed cleanly out through the subwoofer's base.
Price and availability
The Q B12 will be available from November 2019 (UK) and January 2020 (US), included in the following 5.1 speaker packages:
- Q Acoustics 3010i 5.1 PLUS (£1,049 / $1,295)
- Q Acoustics 3050i 5.1 PLUS (£1,499 / $1,845)
