Q Acoustics E120 Makes Installed Audio Simple

Q Acoustics' new E120 hub looks to be a neat custom install wireless system control for two or four in-ceiling or in-wall speakers.

The E120 from Q Acoustics sports a 3.2-inch colour screen for track, artist and album info and features touch-sensitive fascia controls and IP67 splashproof remotes, allowing you to safely take them outdoors. Meanwhile, the E120 itself is IP54-rated, meaning it will survive splashes and so can be placed in kitchens or bathrooms.

You can squirt tunes over to the E120 over Bluetooth 5.0 or, alternatively, use the system's built-in DAB+ and FM radio as well as hooking up sources such as a TV via 3.5mm and mini TOSLINK (16bit-48kHz) inputs.

The system delivers 25 watts per channel of Class D power (into 6 ohms) and can be paired with speakers from Q Acoustics' new custom install range or any other pair of 6-8 ohm rated passive loudspeakers. Additionally, the E120 includes a subwoofer output if you need more low-end punch.

If you already have speakers, the E120 can be purchased separately, in white or black, for £429. However, Q Acoustics offers some packages to make building an E120-based system even more straightforward. For instance, for ceiling speakers, there's the E120 with a pair of Qi65CB (£499), Qi65C Professional indoor speakers (£569) or Qi65CW Weatherproof 6.5-inch speakers for showers, bathrooms and verandas (£649).

Alternatively, on-wall solutions with the E120 include a pair of Qi65RP Performance 6.5-inch speakers (£699) or the Qi65EW Weatherproof outdoor speakers (£699). Two seven-metre QED 19 AWG speaker cables and a five-metre 16 AWG power cable are supplied with these options.

The E120's speaker outputs can be configured as stereo or dual-mono and, furthermore, a pair of speakers can be wired in series on each output to deliver even sound distribution in larger spaces.

The Q Acoustics E120 is available from the end of April and offers a seemingly cost-effective way of installing an in-ceiling or in/ on-wall audio set-up for your home or garden.
