After an unveiling at Captial Audio Fest earlier this month, Mytek Audio's Liberty DAC II has been proudly announced as being the new portal for all things digital.

Mytek's Liberty DAC II is capable of playback and monitoring of all high-resolution digital formats in both PCM and DSD and features a built-in hardware MQA decoder and “reference-grade” headphone amplifier. The latter has a quoted high current maximum output of 300mA/3.0 watts.

At the heart of the Liberty DAC II sits the ESS Sabre ES9038, 32-Bit HyperStream DAC. We are told that this was chosen for both its unprecedented level of performance and musical decoding accuracy. Surrounding the DAC circuit is an “overbuilt” 60 watt linear power supply with a toroidal transformer and 48,000uF of filtering capacitance. Additionally, the fully balanced analogue output stage promises increased dynamic range and headroom, higher resolution, and a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio. Mytek boasts that having all three circuits together in one box is virtually unheard of for a DAC at this price point.

Other noteworthy features present in the Liberty DAC II include five digital inputs (AES/EBU, S/PDIF, Toslink/ADAT - PCM up to 192KHz and up to DSD64 DoP), including a USB2 Class 2 module that doesn't require the installation of additional software drivers on your digital source and is capable of PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, up to DSD256 native, MQA, and DXD. You also get balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs.

Finally, the Liberty DAC II's clock generator is said to yield less than 2ps of jitter resulting in ultra-low distortion.

The Mytek Audio Liberty DAC II is available now priced at €1,295 (inc VAT).
