Monitor Audio Silver Seventh Generation Speaker Range Launched
Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G, eight-model speaker range, launched today.
Monitor Audio's seventh-generation Silver Series loudspeakers are available next month.
First landing in 1999, Monitor Audio's Silver Series is now in its seventh generation (7G) and aims to continue on the range's promise of sound per pound.
The Silver Series 7G features a brand-new design in a choice of five high-quality finishes, along with numerous acoustic innovations and a model line-up extensive enough to cater for every music and home cinema requirement, says the British brand.
The new eight-model range boasts Monitor Audio's new C-CAM gold dome tweeter that sports the new Uniform Dispersion Waveguide II. This, we are reliably informed, makes for lifelike, convincing treble reproduction.
Additionally, you will find the manufacturer's new RST II mid-range and mid/bass drivers said to feature a more rigid profile than ever before. Here a new aluminium alloy improves the tensile strength of the cone while retaining all the benefits - low distortion, high power handling, excellent directivity - of the company's C-CAM technology. So basically, the drivers can go louder for longer without compromise.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have already spotted the hexagonal dimpled structure, which is apparently just one indicator of the cone and geometry structure changes. A new crossover design also results in a smoother, more controlled hand-off to the respective drivers.
Further updates include new driver trims, minimising the appearance of the driver surround and creating a harmonious look as well as some performance benefits, we are told. Meanwhile, the new magnetic grilles have a premium-grade weave, giving visual depth and texture as well as a very tidy appearance, says Monitor Audio.
Every floorstander is supplied with outrigger feet with spun metal trims, developed for absolute stability on carpeted or hard floors. There's also a new Monitor Audio logo.
The available finishes are deeply lustrous high-gloss black lacquer, satin white, or a choice of three real-wood veneers: Ash, Natural Walnut and Black Oak. The Silver FX 7G and Silver AMS 7G Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker is available in High Gloss Black and Satin white only.
Monitor Audio's Silver 7G range starts at £575 per pair for the Silver 50 7G and tops out at £1,725 for the Silver 500 7G. The Silver C250 7G centre-channel speaker is £600, as is the Silver FX 7G. Finally, the Silver AMS 7G Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker has an RRP of £650.
