Klipsch Forte IV Three-Way Horn-Loaded Loudspeaker Released

Klipsch has added the Forte IV Tractrix horn-loaded loudspeaker to its Heritage family.

Klipsch's Forte IV is a three-way design loudspeaker following the heritage of the original Forte, which made its debut back in 1985. After a two-decade hiatus, the Forte returned in 2017.

Naturally, the new Klipsch Forte IV speakers boast updated cosmetics and the latest advancements in acoustic engineering while maintaining the design and performance that have made them so popular, says the American brand.

The Forte IV has apparently been wholly revoiced when compared with its predecessor. We are told to expect premium componentry in an all-new high-fidelity network for “truer to life sound with best-in-class efficiency and power handling.”

To this end, the Klipsch Forte IV features a 12-inch woofer and horn-loaded midrange and tweeter, with all-new titanium compression drivers that promise a smooth and powerful response in its three-way design that has a quoted nominal impedance of 8 ohms.

The all-new K-702 midrange compression driver is mated to a modified proprietary Tractrix horn with patented Klipsch Mumps technology for even mid frequencies and consistent sound throughout the listening area. While a newly designed wide-dispersion high-frequency phase plug ensures the last octave matches the coverage pattern of the midrange and high-frequency horns.

According to the manufacturer, the rear-mounted 15-inch passive radiator further augments the 12-inch woofer to produce greater bass output and extension. The result is a claimed 38Hz – 20kHz frequency range and 199dB @ 2.83V / 1m sensitivity.

Premium aluminium input panels accommodate large, high-quality speaker cables, while strong binding posts allow for bi-wiring or bi-amping.

We are told that the Klipsch Forte IV manages to fit all of that in a relatively narrow footprint measuring just 13-inches deep but is said to still deliver room-filling, quality sound.

Klipsch has a nice touch where each pair of Forte IV loudspeakers is grain-matched using wood veneer panels harvested from the same timber. Thus, the speakers are essentially married and move through the factory together, right up to their final inspection, where they are labelled with sequential serial numbers, ensuring that each pair of speakers is a matched set.

The Klipsch Forte IV loudspeakers cost RRP £5,100 per pair and are available now in four standard finish options – American Walnut, Natural Cherry, Black Ash and Distressed Oak.
