Innuos PULSE Network Player Series Launched at High End Munich 2022

The PULSE player series from Innuos get their debut at High End Munich 2022.

Innuos unveils its new PULSE network player series after enjoying considerable success with its almost ubiquitous ZEN music servers.

The Portuguese-based digital audio specialist says that the PULSE range is aimed at music lovers who want to play music from streaming services or just want another zone in their home connected to their primary music server.

The Innuos PULSE Network players offer the flexibility of being assigned complete streaming duties covering the usual streaming services, Internet Radio and music stored on a NAS to a multitude of audio systems, including other streamers on the same network when in Standalone Mode.

Alternatively, engage Endpoint Mode, and it connects to your primary music server, be it an Innuos Music Server, Roon Core, HQ Player or any Logitech Media Server-based server. The PULSE will then show as a zone on the respective music server app, and you will use that app to browse and play music on the PULSE.

PULSEMINI Network Player

PULSEmini is an entry-level music player but, says Innuos, its sound is anything but.

Naturally running on the innuOS operating system, the PULSEmini boasts a custom-designed motherboard outfitted with an Intel quad-core processor. In addition, the OS runs from an “industrial-grade” SSD module with power-loss protection, a low-density parity-check ECC engine and global wear-levelling technologies, alongside 4GB of “highly reliable” RAM. The result is that PULSEmini can output PCM up to 32bit/768MHz and up to DSD512 via USB to compatible DACs. Also, its coaxial and optical SPDIF outputs are capable of up to 24bit/192KHz.

PULSE Network Player

PULSE not only ups the RAM to 8GB but adds AES/EBU output and a new custom RECAP2 LPSU power supply, designed in collaboration with Dr Sean Jacobs (of Custom HiFi Cables fame, we assume). The RECAP2 uses top-notch components such as “medical-grade filtered IEC, an audio-grade toroidal transformer”, and Mundorf capacitors. This is said to result in the PULSE providing a fatigue-free, smoother and more organic sound.

PULSAR Network + USB Reclocker

PULSAR is the hero player in the Innuos PULSE Series. Sporting a premium aluminium chassis housing a custom ARC6 module with Active Rectification and over 130000uF of Mundorf Capacitors.

Rather than SPDIF and AES/EBU outputs, the PULSAR offers an optimised USB output that promises to “take sound quality to a whole new level.” This is achieved by incorporating a PhoenixUSB Lite Reclocker powered by a custom DC4 CX Regulator Module with Audionote KAISEI capacitors. As a result, we're told to expect a smooth yet fast and detailed sound with a large, deep soundstage.

Additionally, the innuOS operating system's SSD is upgraded to an SLC (Single-Level Cell) module for durability and lower operating power noise, rather than the standard TLC (Triple-Level Cell).

InnuOS 2.1 Beta

Finally, innuOS 2.1 should arrive at the end of the month, featuring TIDAL integration (MQA to follow later), UPnP/DNLA and AirPlay support and a Smart Mixes engine. It is currently in Beta testing.

PULSEmini (£899/ €999 RRP) will be available in black, while PULSE (£2,299/ €2,599) and PULSAR (£4,949/ €5,499) come in a choice of black and silver finishes when they arrive in September.

Innuos can be found in Atrium 4.1 - Room E125 at High End Munich 2022, where it will be running A/B demo sessions of STATEMENT with the Standard PSU versus STATEMENT with the Next-Gen PSU. These will be put through a system comprising the Innuos PhoenixNET audiophile switch with Audiovector R6 Arreté speakers, Gryphon Diablo300 integrated amp with DAC, Tellurium Q Statement and Diamond series cables, Isotek V5 Aquarius power conditioner and THIXAR Serenity Plus rack.

Innuos will also participate in the SoundClever initiative with a sub-5k euros system. Here the brand new PULSEmini joins KEF LS50 Meta speakers, a PSAudio Sprout100 integrated amp, Tellurium Q Ultra Blue II Speaker and USB Cables and sat on a Quadraspire SVT rack.
