Harman Continues Renault Partnership Providing 9-Speaker System For New Scenic E-Tech EV

Having started partnering with French automotive manufacturer Renault in 2021, Harman Kardon is clearly seeing the benefits as it's supplying the system for the new Scenic E-Tech electric vehicle.

Unveiled at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, the Renault Scenic E-Tech is an EV targeted at families who need freedom and electric mobility. It also won the “Car of The Year 2024” award at the Geneva International Motor Show. The Scenic E-Tech boasts a large, spacious interior, and its range estimates are between 418 km and 610 km.

The Harman Kardon premium sound system in the Scenic E-Tech is a nine-speaker setup with single voice coil woofers built into the front doors for better performance in the upper mid-range frequencies. There's also an External Coupled Subwoofer (ECS) that reduces the weight and volume of the subwoofer enclosure while still delivering dynamic bass with low distortion.

The system is powered by an eight-channel DSP digital amplifier that can provide a total output of up to 410W. Additionally, we are told that Harman Kardon has included multiple technologies to ensure an optimal listening experience in the car. One such technology is Harman's patented QLS (QuantumLogic Surround) algorithm, which separates input sources to split them into individual streams and speakers to create an immersive soundstage that envelopes and surrounds all the occupants in the car.

There are also five sound ambience presets that passengers can choose from, including a Podcast option that prioritises the clarity of spoken word content, a Studio option for a detailed reproduction of content, and others that widen the soundstage, boost the bass and more.

The Harman Kardon sound system will be included in all Iconic Scenic E-Tech models and an option with an extra charge for the Esprit Alpine (excluding the UK) and Techno versions (excluding France and the UK). Prices start from £37,495 for the base Techno model and from £45,495 for the Iconic model.
