Harbeth Introduces Nelson Subwoofer and Stand Solution
Harbeth's chief designer, Alan Shaw, has developed a nifty sub-bass solution that could revolutionise the sound of small loudspeakers.
The company touts the Nelson Subwoofer + Stand Solution as “the next-generation audio product that seamlessly combines the latest technology with meticulous craftsmanship”. It was demonstrated at the recent Dutch Audio Event, Eindhoven, and the Audio Visual Show in Poland and received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The Nelson Subwoofer employs a Harbeth 5-inch drive unit and 50 watts of digital amplifier power, which “results in exceptional bass control, perfect integration and power output”. This latest Shaw design uses an onboard factory-set DSP chip, and comprises two chambers with a five-inch woofer firing from one to the other to create output down to 35Hz.
Nelson's DSP optimises the crossover frequency, phase and shape so the Nelson sub takes over seamlessly as the host speaker's bass rolls off - a truly plug-and-play addition with only one volume control for the sub.
The Nelson Subwoofer + Stand Solution is priced at £3,295 RRP.
