Esse Quadro Stratis S1 Standmount Marks New Era
Esse Quadro proudly states that its Stratis S1 standmount loudspeaker represents a new era for the company.
Esse Quadro's Stratis S1 loudspeakers feature a layered construction, hence its name. This, says the Italian company that's been producing its handmade speakers in Trieste since 2015, guarantees stiffer cabinet than usual methods. In addition, the structure is further reinforced (to reduce internal resonances) and includes two counter-panels.
The front and rear panels are structurally separate units from the loudspeaker's core and are covered in Alcantara.
Naturally, close attention was also paid to the time alignment of the drivers in this 2-way design with the Seas 146mm paper woofer placed in front of the Scanspeak 28mm silk dome tweeter and so aligning the emission of the moving coils, says Esse Quadro. Furthermore, the front bass reflex duct makes the Stratis S1 much easier to position in your room.
Esse Quadro lists the Stratis S1's frequency response as 33 Hz to 25 kHz +/- 3 dB with impedance rated at 8 Ω (min 5.90 Ω). The new standmounts also have a quoted efficiency of 88 dB SPL (2.83V / 1m).
At the rear of each 12 kg speaker, you will find bi-wireable connections while we are informed that the Stratis S1's crossover eschews printed electronic circuits in favour of a more straightforward 2.5 kHz/ 6 dB/ octave design. Keeping it simple, states the company, retains the musicality and dynamic qualities of the speaker.
The Esse Quadro Stratis S1 is available now with custom finishes possible on request.
