Denon Announces Affordable 8K S-Series Trio

Denon releases two entry-level S-series 8K AVRs and an AV amp to bring Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and more to small to mid-sized home cinema rooms.

Denon proudly states that the S-Series' latest additions, AVR-S670H, AVC-S670H and AVR-S670H, are designed to “help listeners make their first steps into the realm of surround sound and immersive home entertainment.” They are also the first in the range to support 8K.

The 7.2-channel AVR-S770H and the 5.2-channel AVR-S670H and AVC-S670H, the latter pitched as a “pure AV-amplifier”, promise the latest features resulting in outstanding performance.

Denon has equipped the new trio with all the connectivity required for TV, movies, and gaming, including three 4K-compatible HDMI inputs and another three that support 8K, an eARC HDMI output, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The S670H even features an analogue FM tuner for those who like such things.

Image-wise, all three support Dolby Vision HDR with gamers being treated to Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Quick Frame Transport (QFT).

Naturally, you'll find Denon's HEOS streaming tech onboard, allowing you to stream and send audio to any HEOS-enabled speaker on your network. They're also Roon Tested and can access TIDAL, Spotify, Amazon Music HD, TuneIn Radio, and more.

Moreover, the thrifty threesome includes Audyssey MultEQ software for accurate calibration to optimise the listening experience in your room. The AVR-S770H can be configured in a 7.2 or 5.2.2 surround sound set-up with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The AVR-S670H and AVC-S670H models support high-definition 5.2 surround sound, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio decoders.

The AVR-S770H outputs 140 watts per channel (6 ohms, 1kHz, THD 1 per cent, 1ch driven) while the AVR-S670H and AVC-S670H models manage 135 watts per channel (6 ohms, 1kHz, THD 1 per cent, 1ch driven).

Denon's three new S-Series models will be available in early September, with the AVR-S770H priced at £699/ €779, the AVR-S670H costing £599/ €679, and the AVC-S670H being £549/ €629.
