DALI Announces Trio of Epikore Loudspeakers

DALI expands its high-end Epikore loudspeaker range with three new models joining the £40,000 Epikore 11 floorstanders.

DALI's high-end Epikore line now includes the Epikore 3 standmounter along with its dedicated stand, the slim Epikore 7 floorstanders and the larger Epikore 9. Like the Epikore 11 before them, the new Epikore models benefit from trickle-down technology initially developed for the company's £85k flagship Kore towers.

Kicking off with the new Epikore 3 three-way standmounter, this reasonably compact design measures 47x25x42cm (HxWxD) and, like the rest of the Epikore line, shares the same Evo-K tweeter module as used on the range-topping Kore consisting of a 35mm low-loss soft dome tweeter below a 10x55mm planar magnetic tweeter that crossover at 12.5kHz

DALI states that this arrangement enables them to get the best of both worlds of wide dispersion characteristics and crystal-clear high frequencies while allowing both dome and planar magnetic tweeters to work in their comfort zone.

The Epikore 3's rear-ported 18cm mid/bass unit handles frequencies below 2.8kHz and uses DALI's signature red paper and wood fibre Clarity cone. This mid/bass unit is also featured on the 112cm tall Epikore 7 tower, though the 7 gets a brace of them to deliver greater bass power and fully utilise the larger cabinet volume.

Both speakers have a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, with the standmounter being 3dB less sensitive at 85 dB/W/m. However, this should not unduly worry any amplifiers sharing the speakers' price range.

DALI EPIKORE 9

Meanwhile, the 131cm tall Epikore 9 floorstanders feature a four-way design and partner its Evo-K twin tweeter module with a dedicated 16.5cm midrange and a pair of 20cm bass units.

DALI SMC-KORE Crossover

The midrange and bass drive units on the Epikore 9 also use DALI's paper and wood fibre Clarity Cone diaphragms and powerful SMC Gen-2  magnet systems, which are utilised across the entire Epikore range.

This is designed to give low distortion, responsive dynamics and high power handling. The Epikore 9's crossover points are 400Hz, 3.1kHz and 12.5kHz, while impedance is rated at 4 ohms and sensitivity is claimed to be 88 dB/W/m.

DALI KORE and EPIKORE RANGE

The new Dali Epikore 3 (£9,999) and stand (£1,999), Epikore 7 (£19,999), and Epikore 9 (£29,999) speakers are on sale now and available in three high-gloss finish options: black, walnut, and maroon. Euro and GBP prices are the same.
