Bang & Olufsen Welcomes New Chief Design Officer
Bang & Olufsen has a new Senior Vice President and Chief Design Officer.
As of today, March 15th, Miklu Silvanto starts his new post as Bang & Olufsen's Chief Design Officer.
The Danish brand is renowned for its clean Scandanavian style. As Senior Vice President and Chief Design Officer, Miklu Silvanto will hold true to the company's heritage while driving the company's design team and creating the next generation of iconic Bang & Olufsen products.
Miklu Silvanto, who also becomes a member of the company's global leadership team and reports to CEO Kristian Teär, has extensive technology and industrial design experience. Silvanto spent nearly a decade working in Apple's industrial design team, where he helped create some of their most iconic consumer products. Most recently, he has worked for Gemic and AirBnB, amongst others.
Kristian Teär told StereoNET:
We have a very strong portfolio today with many award-winning products, but it is a key strategic priority for us to make sure that we also have a portfolio which is fit for the future. Our design team plays a key role in ensuring that, and that is why we are also elevating the role into our global leadership team and are bringing Miklu onboard to lead the effort.
Born in Finland, Miklu Silvanto shares the same Scandinavian design tradition as Bang & Olufsen and says that he has always been fascinated with the brand's products and stated:
Bang & Olufsen has been pioneering technology and design for almost a century, and that combination is unique. I still remember my first experience with a product when I was a child, and I am both excited and humble about joining this iconic company. Together with the rest of the team, I hope to utilise my capabilities to enhance the whole customer experience and build the products and services of the future while staying true to the brand's legacy and strong Scandinavian design tradition.
Bang & Olufsen will also continue to work closely with external designers when developing new products. Miklu Silvanto joins the company today, March 15th working out of Bang & Olufsen's offices in Copenhagen, Denmark.
