Austrian Audio Hi-X65 Open-Back Headphones Released

Austrian Audio announces its Hi-X65 open-back headphones.
Austrian Audio is a relatively new name on the headphone scene, but it has the experience of ex-AKG employees behind it and, after its closed-back debut, has now announced its entry to the open-back arena - the Hi-X65.
The Austrian Audio Hi-X65 (Hi-X stands for High Excursion) open-backed over-ear cans sport a 44mm driver and a ring magnet system that, the company boasts produces “the strongest magnetic field in its class,” as well as being designed to improve airflow.
Furthermore, the copper-clad aluminium voice coil is said to reduce the weight of the membrane (and the voice coil connected to it), allowing it to move and change direction faster. The Viennese company claims the Hi-X65 to have a frequency range of 5 Hz – 28 kHz and a 110 dBspl/V sensitivity and component-friendly 25 Ω impedance.
The soft memory foam earpads, along with the headband padding, promise to provide plenty of space and ventilation for your ears, as well as preventing head pressure. This all hopefully adds up to fatigue-free listening sessions, whether in your living room or at the mixing desk. Both the earpads and headband can be replaced when needed - all-in, the Hi-X65 tips the scales at 310g.
The Hi-X65 can fold compactly for easy storage or for slipping into a gig bag. They come with a protective carrying bag, along with a 3m and 1.2m audio cable bundled in, as is a ¼-inch jack convertor.
The Austrian Audio Hi-X65 headphones are available now, priced at £319.
