Audio-Technica Unveils New ATH-TWX7 True Wireless Earbuds
After the impressive ATH-TWX9 flagship earbuds, Audio-Technica isn’t resting on its laurels. The Japanese audio company has just announced the new ATH-TWX7 true wireless earbuds that are meant to slot into the lineup as a more affordable mid-range offering compared to the ATH-TWX9.
That being said, the ATH-TWX7 comes in a similar design while not compromising much on sound and features.
Most notably, the ATH-TWX7 comes with LDAC support, which is missing from the ATH-TWX9, while both earbuds can transmit up to 24-bit/96kHz. However, the ATH-TWX7 doesn’t support the aptX or aptX Adaptive codecs.
Inside, the ATH-TWX7 uses the same 5.8mm dynamic drivers as the ATH-TWX9, which is excellent, and we expect it to sound just as good as its big brother while retaining the same IPX4 water resistance rating.
The earbuds also come with hybrid noise cancelling with a feedforward feedback system thanks to two MEMS microphones on either side and a proprietary filter that gets applied to enhance noise cancelling performance. There’s also multipoint support so the earbuds can quickly switch connections between devices like a laptop and mobile phone for ease of use.
There’s also the Audio-Technica Connect companion app, which allows for all these features to be activated or adjusted, along with others like touch control sensitivity, ambience control, an equaliser and more.
Audio-Technica claims 6.5 hours in the earbuds with ANC turned on, for a total of 20 hours when including the charge in the case. This increases slightly to 7.5 hours and 24 hours when ANC is turned off. As with the ATH-TWX9, the case does support wireless Qi charging in addition to USB-C wired charging, with 15 minutes of wired charging supporting about an hour of use.
The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 true wireless earbuds are listed as “coming soon” on the company's website. While we are awaiting a confirmed UK RRP, they are available to order in other territories for US$199 | S$268.
