Audio Analogue AAdac Released

Audio Analogue adds to its new 'PureAA' line with the AAdac

Audio Analogue launched its 'PureAA' line of products in 2018, drawing from the 2016 range of Anniversary amps. Now, after the AAcento amplifier and AAphono, comes the AAdac.

The AAdac (£3,299) features simple design combined with attention to detail in materials, parts and finish, says the manufacturer. That said, you do get seven digital filters, the option of volume regulated mode if you choose to use the AAdac as a preamplifier, and channel balance control. Also, you can change the brightness of the LED display.

Equipped with SPDIF, Toslink and AES/EBU digital inputs, the AAdac also offers Bluetooth aptX for when you want to go wireless. There is even a face-mounted, dedicated headphone socket. The 100mmx220mmx390mm (HxWxD) unit houses a 32bit/768Khz DAC which is capable of native DSD decoding up to 8xDSD (DSD 512) and a quoted THD+N (1dB, 1kHz, FS = 48 kHz) of -108 dB.

Being an Audio Analogue product, the AAdac, which is based on the renowned Sabre ES9038, promises to have that “analogue feeling” to its overall character. The AAdac, we are told, is made up of discrete components, each of which has a separate power supply. Boasting a fully balanced digital stage using “high-quality components”, we are not only promised ultra-low noise and ultra-low distortion but “a remarkably musical audio performance”.

Pricing and availability

Audio Analogue's AAdac is available now, in black or silver, priced at £3,299 (inc. VAT).
