Zidoo is the New Media Player Name in Town

As far as media players go, Apple TV and Nvidia Shield have generally been the go-to products in the last few years. While they are great solutions for native video streaming apps, they each have their limitations for playback of locally stored media.

There's a growing trend and increasing demand for high-quality playback of backed-up movies, and getting the full uncompressed 4K HDR video and Dolby Atmos sound experience can be challenging from most devices on the market.

That's where the Shenzen, China-based manufacturer, Zidoo, is making quite the name for itself with its full suite of Android-based Media Players. With its own factory and a team of over 60 engineers, Zidoo has been working hard to deliver fantastic products, producing over 200,000 devices monthly.

Its flagship model, UHD3000 (US$999 | S$1,339), uses the new generation of Realtek RTD1619 chipset, supports Dolby Vision VS10 engine and advanced 4K 12Bit HDR10+/Dolby vision decoding. It also passes through Dolby Atmos, features an ESS 9068 DAC and supports MQA and DSD512 hardware decoding.

Zidoo's Home Theatre app and Poster Wall is the ultimate solution in quick and easy movie management, along with its support for BD/DVD (unencrypted) / CDs and CD ripping, BD/BD3D/UHD Blu-ray menu playback and Blu-ray seamless branching playback. Almost all standard 3D video formats can also be played, including MVC 3D (Blu-ray, MKV).

We've been trialling the UHD3000 in the StereoNET demo room for months, and we can't fault it. Zidoo is quick to push out a firmware update or patch when a bug arises, while constant development ensures more and more features are added all the time.

The Zidoo UHD3000 is priced at US$999 | S$1,339 and is available now, stay tuned for our StereoNET review coming soon.
