Vinnie Rossi Brama Collection Offers Selectable Class A 300B Triode and Solid State Amplification
Vinnie Rossi has been carving out quite a name for itself and today sees the launch of the Brama range, which looks quite stunning, frankly.
Vinnie Rossi's Brama collection, Brama being Italian for an intense craving or desire, is the result of two years of research and development, which the company hopes highlights its commitment to producing the highest level of hi-fi components it can. In fact, the man behind the name states:
Brama opens a new chapter for our brand and demonstrates to the world our strong commitment to designing and manufacturing innovative,
reference-grade audio components at the highest level.
If the sleek, clean lines of the Brama's aesthetics have you thinking Teutonic elegance, then it will come as no surprise that Rossi teamed up with Montreal-based industrial designer Olivier Raymond who has worked with both Porsche Design and Mercedes-Benz. The result is what Raymond describes as “a timeless design statement that is positively unadorned and sheltered from passing trends - redefining indulgence in the most elegant and enduring fashion.”
Before you even get to the technology and design within, the Brama chassis looks quite stunning. Each is machined out of solid, high-grade aluminium-6063 billets, chosen for its strength, resistance to corrosion, and fine surface quality. Each panel is finished with a micro-beading treatment to reveal the smoothest surface quality possible. Additionally, the casement acts as an excellent heat sink which Rossi has taken full advantage of with two unibody side panels, each perforated from top to bottom for hot air to channel upwards and outwards.
The Vinnie Rossi Brama amplifiers feature independent, Class A, 300B directly-heated triode and solid-state linestage sections, with the ability to switch between them at the press of a button on the Bluetooth Brama Remote. The remote is also hewn from a billet of aluminium and sports scratch-resistant sapphire glass over the display screen.
The Brama integrated boasts a claimed 350Wrms per channel into 4-ohm, whereas the line's stereo power amplifier dishes out a quoted 500Wrms per channel into 4-ohm.
Volume control is via a 100-step precision resistor ladder that can be dialled in using the Brama's Swiss-made, precision-stepped switches and knobs.
Power is delivered through a custom-designed 1750VA, shielded power supply transformer with dual secondary windings that feed independent, dual-mono linear power supply PCBs for both the preamplifier and power amplifier sections in the integrated with similar care and attention taken in the separate pre and power amps. You'll also find ultrafast soft recovery diodes, massive filter capacitors, and super-regulated outputs, all of which combine to deliver vanishingly low noise and superb dynamics, says Vinnie Rossi.
All the inputs and outputs are balanced; however, you do get a set of XLR to RCA adapters. There is also a home-theatre bypass and memory inputs that save independent settings for each input, including Gain, Triode %, Balance, Phase, and Stereo/Mono listening mode.
Naturally, your eyes will undoubtedly be drawn to the bespoke analogue gauges with precision air core movements, machined aluminium hands, and adjustable backlighting. Sapphire glass is again used here alongside highly-polished stainless steel bezels.
We are informed that every Brama is hand-assembled and tested, one at a time, at Vinnie Rossi's new manufacturing facility in Massachusetts, USA and is backed by a 10-year warranty.
The Vinnie Rossi Brama Integrated Amplifier (US$38,995), Brama Preamplifier (US$33,995) and Brama Stereo Power Amplifier (US$$33,995) are available for order from November 2021. Shipping is slated to start in late 2021/ early 2022.
