Velodyne Expands Subwoofer Lineup with Impact X Range
Velodyne, the famous name in subwoofers enjoying a new lease of life and much success since its new ownership, has announced its all-new Impact X Subwoofer series.
Developed by an international team of experts in the U.S. and Germany, the new subwoofers feature the company's newly developed electronics, drivers and cabinet design. Impact X has features not seen on any Velodyne sub at this price point before, including a front display screen, remote control and inbuilt DSP listening modes.
The performance is said to be sublime with up to 600 Watts peak amplifier power (12-inch model) and a down-firing bass reflex port. Velodyne's advanced anti-clipping circuitry also ensures distortion is kept to a bare minimum for clean bass.
Sure to be welcomed by enthusiasts is the full function remote control, front screen (with adjustable light level), and integrated DSP presets, making this range incredibly capable at the price. The Class D amplifier has been thoughtfully designed and features loop though for those wanting to run multiple subwoofers in their room. The reinforced paper membrane woofers utilise a dual ferrite magnet motor with four-layer 52mm voice-coil.
The Velodyne Impact X Series is available in two sizes (10-inches and 12-inches) and two colours (black and white). The X 12 will sell for around 900 euros, whereas the Impact X 10 costs around $800 euros. Asian pricing hasn't been announced by the company.
