SVS 1000 Pro Subwoofer Series Announced
SVS has unveiled its new 1000 Pro Series subwoofers that boast breathtaking low-frequency output and proprietary features from the flagship models.
SVS's sealed cabinet SB-1000 Pro and ported cabinet PB-1000 Pro models feature all-new 12-inch high-excursion drivers, the brand's Sledge STA-325D amplification, Analog Devices DSP, as well as redesigned cabinets. Finally, advanced tuning and control can be handled via the SVS app.
The SVS 1000 Pro sub's cabinet features an extra-thick MDF front baffle and rigid internal bracing to support the drive unit, ensuring an acoustically inert environment. Benefitting from this cabinet are the new proprietary SVS designed drivers that utilise a dual-ferrite magnet motor assembly with long-throw parabolic surround for extreme excursion and room-pressurising SPLs. The lightweight and rigid aluminium vented cone, says SVS, moves immense volumes of air and deliver clean, accurate bass.
The Sledge STA-325D amplifier combines the high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency. The result is 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak power with vanishingly low distortion. Working with the amplifier is a 50 MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering, which we are told is the most sophisticated DSP engine available in a home subwoofer.
The SVS app was launched alongside the flagship 16-Ultra subwoofers. This smart device app works with Apple, Android and Amazon devices. It offers fingertip control over parameters including volume, crossover frequencies, access to multiple DSP functions, custom preset programming and selection, a three-band parametric EQ, polarity, room gain, subwoofer naming and factory reset. Furthermore, Bluetooth connectivity allows full control, even when the subwoofer is out of sight. Additionally, bi-directional feedback shows adjustments in real-time on both the app and rear panel subwoofer interface.
The SB-1000 Pro sealed cabinet subwoofer promises deep bass extension down to 20Hz with a quoted frequency response of 20Hz-270Hz +/-3 dB. Whereas its PB-1000 Pro ported cabinet sibling sports a new dual-port design maximising airflow and driver motion for greater output while eliminating the potential for port turbulence delivers a stated frequency response of 17Hz-260Hz +/-3dB (standard mode); 19Hz-260Hz +/-3dB (sealed mode).
SVS President and Managing Partner, Gary Yacoubian, told StereoNET:
With the 1000 Pro Series, the performance bar has been set even higher, and I have no doubt audio fans will be blown away by what these subwoofers deliver. Our engineers deployed the most advanced amplifier technology from our flagship subwoofers while upgrading the drivers, the cabinets, and the user experience with our SVS smartphone app. Compared to their predecessors and the competition, 1000 Pro Series are a quantum leap forward.
The SVS 1000 Pro subs are available now, with the SB-1000 Pro priced at US$499 | S$999 in Black Ash or US$599 | S$1,099 in Black/White Gloss. The PB-1000 Pro comes in a Black Ash cabinet priced at US$599 | S$999).
