Polk Audio Monitor XT Dolby Atmos Speaker Range Now Available
Polk's most affordable speaker line brings hi-res Audio and Dolby Atmos to movie, music, and gaming fans.
Polk Audio's Monitor XT Series is touted as a “Hi-res audio certified and Dolby Atmos compatible speaker lineup” that boasts a heritage that dates back to 1972. However, it's the American company's latest advances in sound-per-pound woofers, tweeters, crossovers, and cabinetry that should be grabbing our attention.
Polk Monitor XT Line-Up
The Monitor XT Series stretches across several models that should cover your requirements, whether you're building a home theatre or Hi-Fi system. Polk's Monitor XT Series lineup includes two floor-standing towers, slim and full-size centre channels, two bookshelf models, a 12-inch powered subwoofer, and a height module for immersive surround sound. All models are finished in Midnight Black.
We are assured that all Monitor XT Series speakers are timbre-matched to provide consistent sound in any array. So you can mix and match models from the range to create the set-up you need without worrying about compatibility between the speakers.
Polk's Monitor XT loudspeakers sport hi-res audio-certified Terylene dome tweeters that are said to faithfully reproduce audio beyond 40kHz. The new line also promises authoritative bass performance thanks to efficient and Dynamically Balanced woofers paired with responsive passive radiators (in the floor-standing models).
To achieve the captivating, multi-dimensional experience of Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro 3D content, the Monitor XT lineup includes the MXT90 height speakers. The MXT90 adds a vertical dimension to the sound field when playing back content of object-oriented audio formats when placed atop the Monitor XT20, XT60 or XT70 loudspeakers or a shelf, or when wall-mounted to create the ultimate 3D home cinema, says Polk.
MXT12 Powered Subwoofer
The Monitor XT12 is equipped with a 12-inch long-throw, Dynamically Balanced woofer powered by an ultra-efficient 100-Watt Class A/B amplifier that reaches down to 24Hz. The XT12 offers line-level (RCA) and LFE inputs and is compatible with the latest Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X enabled AV receivers.
Also, you can fine-tune performance using the variable crossover, polarity, and volume adjustments. The Monitor XT12 is housed within a rigid, low-resonance cabinet and comes complete with a removable grille.
All Monitor XT Series products are currently available and start at US$149 per pair for the XT15 Bookshelf speakers, with the XT20 standmounts coming in at US$249 for a pair. The XT60 Towers are US$398 and the XT70 Towers, US$598 per pair.
The XT30 Center Channel speakers are US$149 each, and the XT35 costs US$249 apiece. The XT90 Height Channel speakers are US$149 per pair, while the XT12 Powered Subwoofer will cost you US$299.
