Kalista Mantax DAC Announced
If you own a Kalista DreamPlay X SACD/CD transport, you will soon be able to connect it to its perfect DAC partner, the Mantax.
The Métronome Technologie-owned Kalista brand tells us that DreamPlay X owners have been requesting a D/A Converter to match the capabilities of their high-end silver disc transport. The answer comes in the unmistakable shape of the Mantax DAC.
Jean Marie Clauzel (above), Owner and Designer of Kalista, told StereoNET:
It is always a huge challenge to design and manufacture such exceptional devices. Mantax couldn’t have come in the same timeframe as DreamPlay X, but I’m convinced that it was worth waiting a little bit!...Fantastic quality of making and great setting possibilities, this is what I wanted to offer to the Audiophile world. Now, please see and above all listen!
Communication between the DreamPlay X and Mantax is via the Kalista proprietary I²S signal which, says the French company, produces “perfect native sound reproduction”.
The digital to analogue-conversion is performed by two separate lines of AKM and ESS processors, giving “wide possibilities in sound restitution profiles.” Furthermore, parallel tube and solid-state analogue outputs allows listeners even more possibilities.
The Kalista Mantax will be officially launched by Jean Marie Clauzel and his Team in Vienna, Austria, on November 18th with shipping set for December 1st. The Mantax will be available in Diamond (silver) and Black Pearl (black) and cost €59,000 RRP. Like all Kalista devices, customisation is possible on request.
