Huawei Launches FreeBuds Pro 2, Co-engineered with Devialet
Huawei's new FreeBuds Pro 2, co-engineered with Devialet, promises an elevated listening experience and industry-leading noise cancellation capabilities.
Huawei and Devialet have come together to combine their common pursuit of sound quality into the new HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2, which delivers an audio experience that every music lover will be impressed with. Users can enjoy bright and precise treble and overtones while also having bass that packs a punch. This is due to the ‘Ultra-hearing True Sound Dual Driver’ sound system that gives the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 a wide range of 14 Hz to 48 kHz to truly present sound details accurately.
The earbuds leverage the ‘Triple Adaptive EQ’ technology to automatically tune audio according to users’ ear canal structure, posture and volume level to ensure a personalised and high-definition sound experience for everyone, regardless of where and what volume you are playing your music at.
The FreeBuds Pro 2 also supports LDAC™ high-resolution codec and is certified both by HWA and Hi-Res Audio Wireless, supporting blazing-fast transmission of up to 990 kbps, and transmitting pure high-fidelity sound that spares no detail.
Besides top-quality music, the FreeBuds Pro 2 is equipped with 'Intelligent Dynamic ANC 2.0’ that accurately identifies your ear canal structure, external sound field environment and wearing status, and selects one of the three optimal noise canceling mode in real time.
The exclusive aircraft noise cancellation curve3 is capable of eliminating roaring aircraft engine noises on flights. Phone calls will also be clear and quiet thanks to the new Pure Voice call noise cancellation technology and its 4-microphones, it is able to accurately pick up human voices. Its new hidden wind-proof design also effectively reduces wind noises, ensuring excellent call quality even amidst strong winds.
The FreeBuds Pro 2’s dual connection feature offers seamless connection with two devices for automatic call switching. This feature works with Huawei all-scenario devices including smartphone, tablet, PC and Watch, as well as with Android, iOS and Windows smart systems. The ‘Audio Connection Centre’ also lets users view the last 10 devices connected to the earbuds for easy switching between multiple devices. This can be automatically detected on the Super Device screen of Huawei PCs, tablets, phones, or Vision TVs, and easily connected with a simple drag and drop.
This small but powerful pair of earbuds comes with a long battery life of up to four hours playback time with ANC on and a total of 18 hours with the case. With ANC off, users can enjoy six and a half hours of playback and 30 hours with the case. Users who are always on-the-go can benefit from reverse charging6 on the earbuds case with their phone or tablet. What’s more, they need not fear hot or rainy weather as the earbuds are equipped with IP54 water splash resistance.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 retails at US$209 | S$298 will be available from 1 September 2022 in Silver Frost, Ceramic White and Silver Blue finishes.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
