Goldmund Tethys Loudspeakers Launched

Goldmund announces its Tethys loudspeakers which offer an alternative to its active proprietary wireless designs.

Not got the space or budget for Goldmund's £500,000 Gaia behemoths? The answer could be the all-new passive Thethys loudspeakers which broke cover last night in central London, and, of course, we were there.

Goldmund's Tethys certainly appears to share strong design DNA with the Gaia in shape, if not stature. The sleek and elegant aesthetic remains striking and yet will likely still integrate into most environments. Naturally, the high-end Swiss manufacturer's rigorous attention to detail and quality is also notable.

Tethys is relatively compact, especially in Goldmund floorstanding loudspeaker terms and measures 109x29x37cm (HxWxD) whilst weighing 67 kg per unit. The grey aluminium two-box system features Goldmund's mechanical grounding system and houses custom-designed and engineered “state-of-the-art” drivers, including a 9-inch vented woofer in the lower cabinet and a 7-inch mid and soft dome tweeter in the upper portion.

We're told that Goldmund has employed “advanced crossover” technology to ensure seamless integration of frequencies and optimal dispersion. According to the Swiss brand, this results in a coherent and immersive soundstage and a claimed 43 Hz (-6 dB) > 25 kHz frequency response. You will also notice the LEMO-style connectors in between the 'standard' posts. These are used as a ‘proprietary’ speaker level connection for Goldmund amps using Goldmund speaker cables (in passive mode) - most Goldmund mono power amps have the corresponding connector available on them.

Goldmund's commitment to excellence extends to the manufacturing process. They say that each loudspeaker is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, ensuring the utmost precision and attention to detail. The finest materials are carefully selected, and rigorous quality control processes are implemented to guarantee that every loudspeaker meets Goldmund's exacting standards.

Goldmund boasts that its new Tethys loudspeaker “represents the culmination of craftsmanship, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to delivering the most immersive and lifelike audio experience imaginable. Prepare to embark on a sonic journey like no other, where the boundaries of sound are pushed beyond imagination.”

The Goldmund Tethys can be ordered now, priced at €70,250.
