FiiO Announces KA13 Portable Headphone DAC/Amp & K11 Desktop DAC/Amp

Most audiophiles would be familiar with FiiO’s DAC/amp offerings, and the company has just added two new options, one for portable use and another for desktop use.

Starting with the KA13 Portable Headphone DAC/amp, it’s a refresh based off the existing KA3 DAC/amp. Equipped with dual CS43131 32-bit DACs and 8262 Op-Amps in a compact package that weighs just 18.5 grams, the KA13 supports 32-bit / 284kHz and native DSD256 audio files. The DAC/amp has both a 3.5mm single-ended as well as a 4.4mm balanced output, with the 3.5mm output supporting SPDIF out as well.

Far from being just a portable DAC/amp, the KA13 even has a “desktop mode” which can be used to increase the power output to 550mW, allowing it to drive both low and high-impedance headphones as needed.

There’s also an ambient light window that can change colour to show the quality of the audio file that’s being played. PCM under 48kHz will be shown in light blue, while PCM above 48kHz will display as yellow. DSD files will cause the window to light up in green. And of course, the lights can be turned off through the FiiO Control app on Android devices.

For a desktop solution, there’s also the new K11 Desktop DAC/amp, a low profile device that will be able to fit in compact spaces thanks to its 3.2cm height. Powered by a GD32F303RET6 chip and paired with a CS43198 DAC, the K11 can support 32-bit / 384kHz and DSD256 files as well.

The K11 has a variety of inputs, including USB-C, Optical and Coaxial, and supports RCA stereo line-out. There’s also a 1.1-inch display on the front that displays information about the audio file being played.

With an output power of up to 1,400mW and 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs on the front, the K11 will be suitable for powering most headphones.

Both the FiiO KA13 and K11 DAC/amps will be available from October onwards, with the KA13 priced at US$79 | €74, while the K11 retails at US$129 | €139.
