Elipson W35+ Boasts Improved Sonics and Connectivity
Elipson launches the W35+, improving both sound and connectivity.
Elipson's W35+, as the name might well give away, boasts of being a new and improved version of their distinctive W35 connected, multi-room stereo speaker, which was debuted at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2020.
The W35+ adds RJ45 connectivity into the distinctive spherical design alongside improved acoustics. According to the French brand, the W35+ is capable of high-quality, HD audio playback no matter which source you use, now and in the future.
The improved sonics comes by way of a redesign of how the silk dome tweeter integrates with the pair of 6.5-inch mid/bass drive units. The reworked tweeter housings are said to give better treble and greatly improved harmonics. Furthermore, having a woofer and tweeter on each side of the 350mm diameter speaker, as with the original W35, promises a genuinely stereophonic configuration from a single unit and a claimed frequency response of (± 3 dB): 47 Hz - 22 kHz.
Amplification remains Elipson's proven Class-D amplifier that provides up to 350W RMS, more than enough to fill even the largest rooms. New to the W35+ is an RJ45 socket for connected streaming along with digital (S/PDIF Optical) and analogue inputs (3.5mm mini-jack AUX).
Wireless connectivity is the W35+'s forte, aided by aptX HD Bluetooth for playing hi-res music files up to 24-bit and Wi-Fi for playing audio in Solo mode or CD-quality audio files in multi-room mode.
Streaming platforms including Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Internet Radio are available alongside the option to stream from your stored music files.
Everything is controlled via the dedicated Elipson Connect App. This also enables the W35+ to work with other Elipson Connected products, such as the Music Centre Connect HD, Connect Wi-Fi receiver and Connect streaming amp, all of which can be located in different rooms to create a simple to use multi-room system.
Finished in Matt Dark Grey, Elipson's brand new W35+ is available now at a MSRP of around US$1,125.
Additionally, a specially designed tripod stand is available in either Silver Oak or Walnut at around US$180 for the ultimate in stylish integration into your living room.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
