Electrocompaniet Announces Triple High End Munich 2022 Launch

Electrocompaniet is readying the AW 800 M power amplifier, Rena S2 streamer, and the Rena SA2 streaming amplifier for High End Munich 2022.

Electrocompaniet has been busy at its Norwegian base and has a trio of new products ready for unveiling at the High End Munich 2022 show - namely the AW 800 M power amplifier, Rena S2 streamer, and the Rena SA2 streaming amplifier.

Additionally, there's the bonus of a remote control for all products in the EC Living line.

RENA SA2 STREAMING AMP

The Rena SA2 is the second generation of Electrocompaniet's award-winning streaming DAC / amplifier, based on the in-house developed EC software engine.

The Roon Ready Rena SA2 features support for Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Airplay 2, DLNA/UPnP, and Bluetooth. Additionally, it's also packing a Summit wireless WiSA chip, enabling it to connect to WiSA compatible wireless speakers, including Electrocompaniet's own Tana L2 and Sira L1 subwoofer.

Loaded with a 2x75W amplifier, Rena SA2 also features new speaker terminals, a new touch-button system and an updated DSP. Wired connectivity is via three digital inputs (1x COAX, 2x TosLink) and a combined analogue and digital output.

The upgraded software and app now also have support for remote control, enabling control of the unit without using the free app.

The Rena S2 benefits from all the updates enjoyed by its Rena SA2 stablemate - aside from the amplification part. And, as with all Electrocompaniet products, it is fully designed and manufactured in Norway.

AW 800 M POWER AMPLIFIER

Electrocompaniet's main event is the ground-up re-engineered AW 800 M flagship power amplifier.

Replacing the legendary AW 600 NEMO as the company's most powerful monoblock power amplifier, the AW 800 M can switch between mono, stereo and bi-amping operating modes.

The AW 800 M features Electrocompaniet's direct-coupled high open-loop bandwidth topology, further enhanced with high slew-rate and very high bandwidth amplifier stages, states the Tau-based manufacturer.

In addition, we're informed that a brand new output stage design massively shields the input and driver stages from the load and makes the output extremely stiff and unaffected by the connected load. Electrocompaniet says that this has the added benefit of significantly simplifying the workload of the already gently working feedback system and thus provides vanishingly low distortion figures.

The output stage incorporates 32 high bandwidth, high current bipolar output transistors that, unstrained, can deliver very high currents to the load. The power supply has also been heavily updated to feed the output stage, apparently now having 210000 uF supply filtering.

Mains power input is DC and RF filtered before reaching the upgraded twin toroidal transformers, which are magnetically and electrostatically shielded to keep any noise from intruding. In addition, the brand states that the internal ground reference has also been kept entirely free of rectifying and output currents.

The upshot of all that is the promise of a very clean, noise-free output signal regardless of output power, providing a very stable sound stage with the blackest background possible at any sound level.

EC LIVING SERIES REMOTE

Lastly, there's a new Bluetooth remote for all products in the EC Living series, both current and legacy products. This remote features up to three preset radio favourites. The EC software engine will also be updated, with an option to enter custom radio URL's into all the EC software engine products to cater for stations not generally available.

Electrocompaniet can be found in Hall 2, Stand J10 at the High End Show Munich 2022.
