Denon DNP-2000NE Network Player Announced

Denon's DNP-2000NE hi-res audio streamer is based on the HEOS platform and supports up to 32-bit/384kHz.

Denon's new DNP-2000NE network streamer features four high-precision 32-bit/384kHz ES9018K2M digital-to-analogue converters. Configured in a double-differential mode derived from the flagship DCD-A110, it promises excellent detail retrieval. Moreover, as it is all synchronised by the Denon Master Clock design, timing is also faithfully reproduced.

The HEOS platform hands the DNP-2000NE access to a raft of streaming services, including Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, internet radio and more. You can also play from your networked digital library stored on a NAS drive. Finally, the HEOS mobile app enables you to create playlists and use any of Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple's Siri for voice control.

Under the hood, Denon's Advanced AL32 Processing Plus supports up-sampling to 384kHz and bit-extension to 32-bit, while the asynchronous USB Type B connection supports native hi-res digital files, including DSD256. Number crunching is performed by a quartet of high-precision 32-bit/384kHz ES9018K2M digital-to-analogue converters, configured in a double-differential-mode just like Denon's flagship DCD-A110 SACD player. This should result in top-notch sound quality.

As well as USB Type B, the DNP-2000NE offers two optical and one coaxial digital input alongside HDMI ARC, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2.

You also get fixed and variable analogue output options, as well as one each of coax and optical digital outputs. Rounding things off is a fascia-mounted headphone socket.

The Denon DNP-2000NE streamer launches in June for US$1,599 in black and premium silver and US$1,799 in graphite silver.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
