D’Agostino Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier Released
The Momentum MxV is "D'Agostino's best-ever integrated model", boasts 250W/pc and is now available in the UK and Europe.
We have already experienced the Momentum MxV at its national debut at The UK Hi-Fi Show Live 2023 after its June 2023 US launch, where we covered the tech specs in more detail. It is easily recognisable as a Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems creation thanks in no small part to its use of copper for the heatsinks (copper's thermal conductivity is 91% greater than aluminium) and analogue meters inspired by Swiss watch faces.
The press release tells listeners to expect a "magnificently muscular yet also exceptionally nimble" performance, which, after our brief time with it in Ascot, we cannot argue against.
Offering 250W of power per channel into an 8-ohm load combines with the flexibility of optional digital streaming and phono stage modules to form a high-end integrated amplifier that combines the front-end technology from the Momentum HD Preamplifier and the power section of the Momentum S250 MxV Stereo Amplifier, resulting in "Momentum Series performance in a compact framework".
The Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier sports a dedicated audio chassis and a separate power supply, with the two chassis interlocking through unique thirty-pin 30-amp, gold-plated connectors to eliminate wiring customarily used for these applications and the associated anomalies that can occur.
When the modular Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier is fully equipped, its topology is a seamless circuit working in concert from input to output. DDMAS tells us that each internal section is highly specialised, but knowing the exact complement of power supply, control, and audio circuitry being used together affords engineering a vision of the system that is typically not possible. "Our engineering team has taken the inherent benefits of an integrated design and elevated it to a new level of sonic performance," said Bill McKiegan, President of Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems.
The backbone of the Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier is a new ultra-quiet 2,000VA linear transformer. This uses a unique toroidal winding technology that delivers greater power output than a similarly sized conventional transformer, so says DDMAS. This engine drives a nearly 60,000ⲙF capacitor bank, resulting in 250/500/1,000W power output into 8/4/2Ω speaker loads. The press release states that internal circuitry filters RF noise from the AC powerline and compensates for asymmetric power waveforms and DC on the mains.
The optional digital module vaults the Momentum MxV Integrated into the cutting edge of today's digital listening environment by adding S/PDIF coaxial, optical, and USB-A for legacy digital components and Ethernet and Wi-Fi for network-based music with PCM signals up to 32-bit/192kHz and DSD up to DSD1024 supported. A dedicated iOS D'Agostino DSM app provides built-in Tidal, Qobuz, and MQA decoding, plus complete unit control.
Additionally, the optional phono module adds vinyl playback capability supporting low output moving coil cartridges with over 60dB of gain and loading options from 100-47k ohms.
Available in silver, black, or custom-painted finishes, every Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier is hand-built and individually tested in D'Agostino's Arizona factory.
The Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems Momentum MxV Integrated Amplifier is available to order at $65,000 US plus $10,000 US for the optional Digital Streaming Module and $5,000 US for the optional phono module.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
