BenQ GS50 HD, HDR Portable Projector Released

The BenQ GS50 portable projector is touted as the world's first smart portable outdoor projector available with 2.1-channel Bluetooth audio.

According to the manufacturer, the BenQ GS50 LED Full HD (1080p) projector can produce a 500 ANSI-lumens output with HDR and Rec. 709 colour gamut for up to 30,000 hours. In addition, it can project an image of up to 100-inches and should be pretty easy to set up with both autofocus and auto-keystone functionality baked in.

Steve Chu, President of BenQ Europe, says that the GS50 “provides a meaningful all-in-one cinematic experience by combining wireless Android TV streaming and powerful Bluetooth multichannel audio with high mobility and versatile connectivity.”

Powered by a built-in, rechargeable battery that's good for two hours of viewing, the BenQ GS50 is also loaded with an Android TV smart platform with access to Google Play and live-streaming apps, movies, shows, sports and games, as well as social media. Additionally, there is 16GB of internal storage, enabling you to save those shows before you head out into the wilds. Wait. What?

You see, the 154 x 186 x 146mm GS50 could well be the perfect camping/ outdoorsy travelling projector thanks to its ruggedised design and IPX2 rating that all adds up to it being splash resistant and able to brush off a tumble from about 70cm or so.

The BenQ GS50 features a 2.1 channel sound system comprising separate high/ mid-range drivers built into the sides and rear as well as a dedicated woofer, all of which has been tuned by BenQ's treVolo audio team.
