Bang & Olufsen's new portable wireless speaker features a modular design, room optimisation tech, and a magnetic plug.
Bang & Olufsen's new Beosound Level is a portable wireless home speaker that sports a 'future-proof' modular design and promises impressive sound, and unrivalled craftsmanship.
Measuring a slender 34.8 x 23 x 5.6 cm (LxHxD) Beosound Level packs 105 watts of music power via five drivers - a pair of 4-inch woofers, a 2-inch full-range driver, and a brace of 0.8-inch tweeters. Amplification is by way of 2 x Class D at 30 W for the woofer, 1 x Class D at 30 W for the full range and another Class D at 15 W for the tweeter. We are told that these low-distortion amplifiers also allows for adaptive sound staging and delivers 79dB bass capability and 96dB in mid-range loudness. Additionally, Bang & Olufsen states a 39 Hz-23 kHz frequency range.
Furthermore, Beosound Level features “next-generation active room compensation”. Thanks to this tech analysing the speaker's behaviour and adjusting its power consumption. Moreover, the Beosound Level automatically adjusts its acoustic tuning from 180-degrees to 360-degrees based on the way it is positioned, optimising your listening experience.
Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5, a Line-in/optical combi-jack, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), a USB-C charging port and another for Servicing. Also, there is Bang & Olufsen's nifty Easy Charge Solution - an aluminium magnetic plug that seamlessly clicks onto the back of the speaker.
The Beosound Level is Chromecast built-in and Apple AirPlay 2 compatible and has access to Spotify Connect and Google Assistant.
Thanks to integrated proximity sensors, Beosound Level lights up to greet you as you approach. This light show is also automatically adjusted to suit the room's ambient brightness. Soft-touch buttons enable easy navigation and, once you've finished interacting with the speaker, the light slowly dims.
Beosound Level comes with Bang & Olufsen's new replaceable streaming module. The module has the capability to receive new performance updates and features for many years to come, says the manufacturer. The module has been designed to allow easy access for servicing, repairs and future updates.
