Ausounds AU-Frequency ANC Earbuds Released
Ausounds has launched its latest noise-cancelling true wireless earbuds - the AU-Frequency.
The Ausounds AU-Frequency noise-cancelling earbuds boast a 20-hour battery life and touch controls.
The proudly LA-based brand has loaded the AU-Frequency with its own 10mm AU PEEK+PU driver. We are told that this lightweight driver has been designed to reproduce a full-range frequency response without the added weight and complexity of multi-driver or Hybrid technologies. We are promised an ultra-deep bass response with an exceptionally dynamic attack. Each bud tips the scales at just 5.5g, and the earphones have a claimed 20Hz-20kHz frequency response and a quoted SPL of 100dB.
The AU-Frequency comes supplied with three sizes of silicone ear tips to create a comfortable seal. The standard tip fitting on the metal-bodied earpiece opens the option of third-party tips. Handy if you prefer the extra sound-isolation of Comply tips, for example. Additionally, the AU-Frequency ANC is IPX4 waterproof and so are perfect for sporty types and the British summertime.
The buds' outer surface offers instant playback controls and access to any Voice Assistant supported by your playback device. According to the brand, a high-quality voice-specific mic is incorporated into the design to ensure the highest accuracy of voice commands and crystal-clear voice call quality.
Meanwhile, Ausounds' advanced ANC system is said to have been designed to have the minimum impact on music reproduction and sound quality.
Finally, solid wireless connectivity comes by way of Bluetooth 5.0, which also helps with the AU-Frequency's stamina. We can expect up to 5 hours of music playback with the USB-C compatible charge-case adding three full charges without the need for a power socket. The case takes around 90 minutes to recharge from empty.
The Ausounds AU-Frequency is available in black, priced around US$129.95.
WHAT WE THINK
The true wireless earphone arena is one where only the truly remarkable survive and sometimes sound per pound is just not enough. However, the savvy shopper should not discount relative newcomers to the battle, such as Ausounds. We have been following the company's progress and think there's much more to come.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
