Astell&Kern ACRO CA1000T Audio Connoisseur Headphone DAC/ Amp Hub Released
Astell & Kern's ACRO CA1000T portable headphone hub is loaded with Dual Tube Triple Amp tech and the latest ESS PRO DAC.
Astell & Kern's ACRO CA1000T combines a DAC and dedicated desktop headphone amplifier whilst adding a brace of bragging rights, including the world's first portable device to sport ESS's latest flagship Dual DAC and fancy a Dual Tube Triple Amp System onboard. Furthermore, it also boasts a plentitude of connectivity options and a natty built-in screen that tilts up to 60 degrees.
Pitched at “audio connoisseurs”, the ACRO CA1000T is equipped with XLR and RCA outputs alongside wi-fi and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technologies, giving you an ample choice regarding connecting a range of speakers and external audio devices to this new portable headphone hub.
The ESS ES9039MPRO DAC promises a clear, three-dimensional sound with improved modulation to improve power efficiency and reduce noise. According to the manufacturer, it also has a new circuit design that presents a full, detailed sound across the frequency range. In addition, the high-end DAC will decode up to native DSD512 and 32bit/768kHz PCM, MQA full unfold, and aptX HD and LDAC codecs for high-quality sound when streaming. Rounding things off nicely is its Roon Ready certification.
We're also told that Dual Twin Triode KORG Nutube tubes sit within a completely balanced circuit, separating left and right channels with two vacuum tubes to create more natural softer sounds. In addition, the Triple Amp System lets you choose either Tube Amp or OP Amp mode, or both simultaneously.
Like the Astell & Kern ACRO CA1000 – launched last year – the CA1000T comes loaded with the South Korean company's Teraton Alpha tech, promising to eliminate distortion at even the highest volumes. Regarding output, the CA1000T features a four-stage Gain Level setting up to 15Vrms for more advanced headphones and in-ear monitors.
Finally, the ACRO CA1000T is also portable! A&K reckons you'll get over 10 hours of playback before recharging the battery. Battery Protection Mode keeps the power pack charged up to a maximum of 85 per cent when you have the running plugged in and tops it back up to that level when it drops to 80 per cent. This should mitigate any adverse effects from staying connected to the mains over long periods.
Astell & Kern's ACRO CA1000T is available now for US$2,300.
